Fiscal 2007 total sales were up 17%, and
gross profit rose 15.1%. “The best thing
about this category is its consistent improvement,” Handley said. “Gross
profit has risen 34% over the past three
fiscal years, and there’s still plenty of
growing to do.”

Planning is vital in our business,” said
Darryl Bacon, Vice President–Food
Services, “but it counts for nothing if no
one executes. We have competent store managers who are committed to making
the most of our proprietary food program,
and we give these managers lots of support.” Executing our plans in the year just ended
gave us our third consecutive year of
double-digit sales growth. Same-store
sales were up 11%.
